Possibly as a form of initiation, local Denver street gangs have began robbing banks, bringing about a surge of heists in the Metro Denver area.

Denver has recorded over 80 bank robbers in 2011, compared to 64 at the same time in 2010, since last Friday. This is according to FBI spokesman Dave Joly.  Now Denver is the second highest area nationwide in bank robberies per capita, only second to Seattle.   The 25% rise also takes into account more violent “takeover-style” robberies and more robberies linked to local gangs, says Joly.

There is a joint effort by local , state, and federal law enforcement to handle these rise in bank robberies.  These joint efforts are also being supported by Safe Streets Task Force and Metro Gang Task Force.

As a former Assistant U.S Attorney, I have had experience in many cases like this. Robbery and Gun Charges are very serious charges and if charged, you need a very good attorney experienced in federal criminal charges and federal gun crimes.
